Norman Manley

Norman Manley is one of Passionned's managing partners,  a regular columnist for Computable and responsible for business and market development for the services in the areas of business intelligence, service oriented architectures (SOA) and application integration.

After graduating with a degree in mathematics from the University of Liverpool, Norman started as a trainee programmer at Royal Insurance. In 1976 Norman was asked by Sigma Coatings to come to Holland as a project manager for a new management information system on the mainframe. Having worked for several years as a project manager for Rendeck (later CTG) he left to set up the Dutch organisation for Information Builders, an American software company who was at that time one of the leaders in what later became the Business Intelligence market.  after first leading the Benelux organisation he later became Vice-President North Europe of the Information Builders organisation.

In 2001 Infromation Builders split their organisation in two, Business Intelligence and Integration (iWay Software) and Norman setup the european (EMEA) organisation for iWay as Vice-President. Having established iWay he returned in 2003 to the Dutch office which he lead until leaving the company at the end of 2004. Norman is a well known speaker at (international) congresses specialising in the business benefits of new software technologies, particularly business intelligence and integration. He also works for a number of companies as an advisor to the board on IT strategy. An entrepeneur with 30 years experience in management information, he has extensive knowledge of why Business Intelligence works (and why it doesn't).
